Loyalty program deep dive · Updated June 2026
Everything you need to know about Rove — how to earn, redeem, transfer to 18 airline & hotel partners, the actual sweet spots, what miles are really worth, and what to do with a balance you’ll never use.
1,500 Rove Miles for joining via referral — no spending required. Rove also periodically runs limited-time promos for elevated first-hotel-booking bonuses. Check rove.com for current offers, including the Rove Card launched in February 2026.
A bank-independent flexible currency that transfers to airlines & hotels — without needing a specific credit card.
Rove Miles is a transferable travel rewards currency that launched in 2025. It works like Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, or Capital One Venture Miles — except it’s not tied to a specific bank or credit card. You earn miles by shopping, booking travel, and signing up — and you redeem them either directly through Rove’s travel portal or by transferring them to one of 18 airline and hotel loyalty partners at a 1:1 ratio (Accor Live Limitless is the exception at 1.5:1).
Rove operates as an app and web platform. You sign up free, see your balance, search award availability across partners, and book travel — all from one interface. The pitch is that Rove gives you the flexibility of a Chase Sapphire Reserve or Amex Platinum’s transfer-partner ecosystem without having to qualify for and carry a $500–$695/year credit card.
For the average traveler who wants premium-cabin sweet spots without managing six credit cards, Rove is a genuine simplification. For the credit-card power user already running Amex + Chase + Citi, Rove is an interesting additional currency — particularly because it transfers to programs none of those three do (like Turkish, SAS, and Lufthansa).
Rove is operated by a U.S.-based loyalty technology company. As of June 2026, partners include three major airline alliance members (oneworld, Star Alliance, and SkyTeam — though Rove itself isn’t an alliance member), and it has been independently reviewed by major points-and-miles publications including The Points Guy, AwardWallet, UpgradedPoints, FrequentMiler, AwardFares, and NerdWallet. Transfer partners have been added steadily — Japan Airlines (March 2026), Virgin Atlantic + Virgin Red (April 2026), and Air Canada Aeroplan among the most recent.
In February 2026, Rove also launched its first credit card — pitched as the first travel credit card to approve applicants without a traditional credit history, using cash-flow underwriting instead. The card and the loyalty program are independent: you can earn Rove Miles via the portal whether or not you carry the Rove Card.
Free to join. We’re not paid by Rove to recommend them — but you’ll need a Rove account to do anything in this guide.
Six earning paths today, with a seventh (a Rove credit card) on the horizon.
Because Rove has no credit card yet, all current earning happens through Rove’s own platform — either shopping, booking travel, or referring friends. Every earn method stacks on top of whatever credit card you pay with, which means rewards-card holders can compound rates substantially.
| Earning method | Rate | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome bonus | 1,500 miles (currently elevated) | Standard bonus is 1,000 miles; elevated to 1,500 via referral or sign-up promos through 2026. No spending requirement. verified June 2026 |
| Hotel bookings | Up to 25× / dollar | Book any of 200,000+ hotels through Rove’s portal with cash. Top earners are nonrefundable rates at participating properties. |
| Flight bookings | 1×–10× / dollar | Cash flight bookings through Rove. Rate varies by route, airline, and fare class. |
| Hotel elite stays | ~5× / dollar (flat) | Stay at any participating hotel — even outside of Rove — and submit the receipt. Still earn airline/hotel loyalty points on top. |
| Shopping portal | Variable by merchant | 13,000+ stores via web portal or Chrome extension. Top rates on gift cards (~3.2×) and travel. |
| Referrals | ~500 miles per signup | Earn when a friend signs up via your referral link. |
| The Rove Card | Reportedly launched 2026 — earn rates TBC | A $0-annual-fee travel card pitched as “the first travel credit card to approve users without a credit history” (uses cash-flow underwriting). Independent coverage varies on current product specifics. confirm at rove.com/card |
The shopping portal earns ~3.2× Rove Miles per $1 on virtual Visa / Mastercard gift card purchases. Stacking that with a credit card that earns 5× on office-supply purchases means you’re earning ~3.2 Rove + 5× credit-card rewards — for what’s effectively a cash-equivalent purchase. This is the “manufactured spend” angle and the reason a lot of Rove balances grow quickly.
Since Rove has no card of its own, your credit-card choice determines how fast your balance grows.
Every Rove portal purchase requires a credit card. The credit card’s bonus category earnings stack on top of the Rove portal multiplier. Pick the card that hits the highest combined rate for each merchant category:
| Card | Annual fee | Stack strategy | Combined rate (example) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Ink Business Cash | $0 | 5× on office-supply purchases (gift cards) + ~3.2× Rove portal | ~5× UR + ~3.2× Rove on gift card stacks |
| American Express Gold | $325 | 4× MR on groceries + Rove portal grocery rates | 4× MR + 2–3× Rove on grocery |
| American Express Platinum | $695 | 5× MR on flights booked through Amex Travel + Rove flight bookings | Compare against Rove’s flight portal earn before booking |
| Chase Sapphire Reserve | $550 | 3× UR on travel + Rove hotel/flight portal | 3× UR + up to 25× Rove on hotel stays |
| Capital One Venture X | $395 | 10× on hotels via Cap One travel portal — but compare against Rove’s portal rate | Pick the higher of the two per booking |
| Citi Custom Cash | $0 | 5% on a chosen category, stacks with Rove portal | 5% TYP + 1–5× Rove depending on merchant |
| US Bank Cash+ | $0 | 5% on chosen categories (electronics, dept stores) — stack with Rove portal | 5% cash + 1–3× Rove on electronics |
| Discover It | $0 | 5% rotating quarterly categories — works during quarters that align | 5% cash + Rove portal rate |
Rove portal rates fluctuate week-to-week (especially for hotels and gift cards). Always check the live rate at rove.com before completing the purchase. The “winning” card depends on what’s currently bonused — there is no single best card across all categories.
13,000+ stores, but the high-value plays cluster in three categories: travel, electronics, and gift cards.
You can earn Rove through the portal at most of the same retailers you’d find on Rakuten, Capital One Shopping, or Chase Offers — but with Rove’s emphasis on travel-related earning. Top categories by earning velocity:

| Expedia | Flights, hotels, packages | 2–10× Rove |

Three paths, ranked from worst-value to best-value.
Rove offers a direct cash-out or gift-card redemption at 0.6–0.75¢ per mile. This is the floor — the value you can always get. It’s not a great redemption, but it means Rove Miles are never worthless. If you’ve got a balance and don’t see a partner sweet spot, this is the safety net.
Use miles to book flights and hotels directly through the Rove travel portal:
This is the “anyone can do it” path — straightforward, no transfer required. Good for low-balance accounts or when you can’t find partner award availability.
This is where Rove gets interesting. Transferred miles can yield 3¢, 5¢, even 7¢+ per mile of value when redeemed for premium-cabin partner awards. Examples in Section 7. The catch: you need to find partner award availability first, then transfer — never the other way around.
Find the award first. Transfer second. Once you transfer miles into a partner program, you can’t transfer them back. If the award disappears between transfer and booking (it happens), you’re stuck with partner miles you didn’t want.
18 partners, all 1:1 except Accor at 1.5:1. Minimum transfer 2,000 miles.
| Partner | Type | Ratio | Alliance | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Air France / KLM Flying Blue | Airline | 1:1 | SkyTeam | US ↔ Europe biz; monthly Promo Rewards |
| Turkish Miles&Smiles | Airline | 1:1 | Star Alliance | Star biz to Europe/Asia; cheap US domestic United |
| SAS EuroBonus | Airline | 1:1 | SkyTeam | TAP/Star business class to Europe |
| Lufthansa Miles & More | Airline | 1:1 | Star Alliance | Rare transferable; First/Business on Star carriers |
| Air Canada Aeroplan | Airline | 1:1 | Star Alliance | Broad Star award chart, distance-based |
| Cathay Pacific Asia Miles | Airline | 1:1 | oneworld | Cathay biz/first to Asia |
| Qatar Privilege Club (Avios) | Airline | 1:1 | oneworld | Qsuites; sweet spots on oneworld carriers |
| Finnair Plus (Avios) | Airline | 1:1 | oneworld | Pool with BA/Iberia/Qatar Avios |
| Japan Airlines Mileage Bank | Airline | 1:1 | oneworld | JAL premium cabins to Asia; sweet redemptions |
| Etihad Guest | Airline | 1:1 | — | Etihad First/Business; American Airlines partner |
| Aeromexico Rewards | Airline | 1:1 | SkyTeam | Latin America |
| Air India Maharaja Club | Airline | 1:1 | Star Alliance | Rare access; India domestic + international. Transfer up to 3 business days. |
| Thai Royal Orchid Plus | Airline | 1:1 | Star Alliance | SE Asia, premium cabins |
| Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles | Airline | 1:1 | SkyTeam | SE Asia routes |
| Hainan Fortune Wings Club | Airline | 1:1 | — | China + select international |
| Virgin Atlantic Flying Club | Airline | 1:1 | SkyTeam | Delta partner award seats; ANA First to Japan |
| Virgin Red | Lifestyle | 1:1 | — | UK-centric earning/redemption |
| Accor Live Limitless | Hotel | 1.5:1 | — | Accor properties globally; redeem against cash rates |
Minimum transfer: 2,000 Rove Miles (some partners may set their own additional minimums or increments). Speed: most partner transfers post within minutes; Air India can take up to 3 business days. Always allow 24-hour headroom before a desired booking date.
The actual reason you’d choose Rove over cashing out at the floor.
Flying Blue · 50,000–60,000 miles one-way · ~5–7¢/mile value
Air France/KLM’s monthly Promo Rewards regularly discount business-class awards on KLM, Air France, and SAS by 25–50%. Watch the promo refresh on the 1st of each month.
Turkish M&S · 45,000 miles one-way to Europe biz · ~6¢/mile
Star Alliance redemptions on Turkish are cheap by partner-program standards. Bonus: Turkish charges 7,500 miles one-way for US domestic flights on United — among the cheapest domestic biz redemptions of any program.
SAS · 45,000–55,000 miles one-way · ~5¢/mile
Direct US–Lisbon on TAP business class is one of the most consistent SAS sweet spots. Award space on SAS partners is broader than its own metal.
Aeroplan · varies by zone · ~3–5¢/mile typical
Aeroplan’s distance-based chart prices Star Alliance flights from carriers like Lufthansa, Swiss, EVA, Singapore (partial), ANA, and United. Good for long-haul business and short-haul connections.
JAL · 65,000–85,000 miles one-way · ~5–7¢/mile
JAL’s award chart for oneworld partners is among the best for premium cabin to Asia. Limited award space, but rare to find via other transferable currencies.
Virgin Atlantic · 110,000–120,000 miles RT · ~6¢/mile
Virgin can book ANA First Class to Japan via its partner award chart — and Delta One flights when Delta releases space. Two of the few transferable currencies that can.
Accor · 1.5:1 transfer ratio · ~1.5–2¢/mile equivalent
Only worthwhile for ALL members who can redeem points against pricey cash rates (e.g., Sofitel, Raffles, Fairmont properties). Use Accor’s own points calculator before transferring.
Depends entirely on how you redeem them.
| Redemption | Value per mile | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Cash / gift card | 0.6–0.75¢ | You’re stuck and can’t find better. Or you’ve got a tiny balance you don’t want to grow. |
| Rove travel portal — flights | 1.25–1.5¢ | Casual redemption. Comparable to Capital One Travel or Amex Travel portal. |
| Rove travel portal — hotels | 1.5–2¢ | Demand-priced properties can pay higher. Always check vs. cash rate. |
| Partner transfer — economy | ~1.5–2¢ | Rarely worth it. Economy partner awards are usually beaten by the travel portal. |
| Partner transfer — premium cabin | 3–7¢+ | The actual reason to use Rove. Plan around specific awards. |
Industry blended valuation: ~1.5¢ per mile. This is the figure used by FrequentMiler, UpgradedPoints, and similar valuation studies for 2026. It assumes a typical redemption mix — not the floor, not the ceiling.
5 minutes, assuming you’ve already found the award.
How Rove stacks up against the established transferable currencies.

Partners: 14 (1:1)

Rove’s strongest argument is airline partner diversity — it’s the only transferable program in the U.S. that gives you 1:1 access to Turkish Miles&Smiles AND SAS EuroBonus AND Lufthansa AND JAL AND Aeroplan. Amex covers some of these; Chase covers others; nobody covers all four. If you’re a Star Alliance award traveler, Rove fills gaps.
Its weakest argument is earn velocity. Without a long-established co-branded credit card ecosystem (the Rove Card is brand new), most earning happens through the portal — which is real, but slower than swiping a 5× card for everyday spend.
Honest take by user type.
You probably don’t need a fourth flexible currency. Sign up for the welcome bonus, run the Chrome extension passively, and let a balance accrue over time. Don’t optimize around it.
Rove gives you 1:1 access to Turkish, SAS, Lufthansa, JAL, and Aeroplan. Few other transferable currencies do. Even a modest balance (~50K miles) opens up real sweet spots.
If you don’t redeem partner awards, you’ll redeem at 0.6–0.75¢/mile floor — you’d get better cashback from a flat-rate 2% card.
The portal’s ~3.2× rate on Visa/Mastercard gift cards, stacked with a 5× office-supply credit card, is one of the higher-velocity earning paths currently running in the points-and-miles world.
