The 2026 guide to World of Hyatt — the elite tiers, every way to earn,
the award chart that makes these points famous, what they’re really worth, and the smart move
when you can’t use them.

A guide from Cash For My Miles · buying points since 2004 · Trustpilot 4.8

World of Hyatt is widely considered the most rewarding hotel loyalty program
in the world — not because it’s the biggest (it’s far smaller than Marriott or Hilton),
but because its points are worth more and its award chart still has real, fixed sweet spots.
A few thousand points can cover a night that costs hundreds in cash. This guide walks through how
the program works in 2026, how to earn points, the redemptions that deliver the most value, what
Hyatt points are actually worth — and what to do with a balance you’ll never use.

What is World of Hyatt?

World of Hyatt is the loyalty program for Hyatt’s 1,400+ hotels and resorts across brands like
Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, Hyatt Regency, Grand Hyatt, Andaz, Thompson, Alila, Miraval and the
crown-jewel Park Hyatt. Members earn points on stays and through partners, then
redeem them for free nights, suite upgrades, all-inclusive resorts and experiences. Two things
set it apart: a published category-based award chart (not pure dynamic pricing),
and a direct 1:1 transfer relationship with Chase Ultimate Rewards — which
is why so many points enthusiasts funnel rewards straight into Hyatt.

Elite status tiers

World of Hyatt has three published elite tiers, earned by nights stayed or base points in a
calendar year:

Tier How to earn Headline perks
Discoverist 10 nights or 25,000 base points 10% point bonus, 2pm checkout, premium internet, preferred rooms
Explorist 30 nights or 50,000 base points 20% bonus, club-access upgrade awards, better room upgrades
Globalist 60 nights or 100,000 base points 30% bonus, free suite upgrades, full breakfast, lounge access, 4pm checkout, waived resort fees

Globalist is the tier frequent travelers chase — the free breakfast, suite upgrades and
waived resort fees alone can be worth thousands a year. Lifetime Globalist kicks in at 1,000,000
cumulative base points.

How to earn World of Hyatt points

There are four main ways to build a balance, and most members combine them:

Hyatt also lets you buy points directly and share points with other members for free (limited
to once per month), and earns on partners like Mr & Mrs Smith, American Airlines and Lindblad
Expeditions — but stays, Chase transfers and the co-brand card are where almost all points
come from.

Why Hyatt punches above its weight: because it’s a Chase Ultimate Rewards
transfer partner at 1:1 and keeps a fixed category chart, a 25,000-point Park Hyatt night that
sells for $700+ in cash is the kind of redemption you simply can’t find at most hotel programs.

How to redeem & the sweet spots

The award chart is the heart of the program. As of May 20, 2026, Hyatt moved to
a five-tier seasonal chart — Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper and Top —
across eight categories. Standard free nights start at just 3,000 points and top
out at 75,000 points:

Category Lowest Low Moderate Upper Top
1 3,000 4,500 6,000 7,500 9,000
2 6,000 7,500 10,000 12,000 15,000
3 8,000 12,000 15,000 17,500 20,000
4 12,000 15,000 20,000 22,500 25,000
5 15,000 20,000 25,000 30,000 35,000
6 20,000 25,000 30,000 35,000 40,000
7 25,000 30,000 35,000 45,000 55,000
8 35,000 45,000 55,000 65,000 75,000

All-inclusive resorts (Hyatt Ziva and Zilara) use a separate Category A–F chart
(12,000–85,000 points/night), and Miraval wellness resorts and Mr & Mrs Smith
properties have their own pricing. Where it’s offered, Points + Cash costs
exactly half the points plus a cash co-pay.

The redemptions worth knowing

World of Hyatt points weighed against cash — redeem for a free night or sell for cash
Redeem for a Park Hyatt suite, or cash out points you’ll never use — the right
move depends on whether you’ll actually book the stay.

What are World of Hyatt points actually worth?

Hyatt points are among the most valuable hotel currencies. Independent valuations in 2026
generally land between about 1.7 and 2.3 cents per point: The Points Guy values
them at 1.55¢ after the new chart, Frequent Miler puts the median “reasonable” value at
1.7¢ (and 2.2¢ for cherry-picked high-value awards), and NerdWallet has historically
valued them near 2.3¢ — one of the highest figures for any hotel program. Redeeming
against pricey luxury or peak-season cash rates can push the value even higher.

Balance Approx. redemption value @ ~2¢
25,000 points ~$500
50,000 points ~$1,000
100,000 points ~$2,000
250,000 points ~$5,000

But those are redemption values — and only real if you actually book a stay you
wanted anyway, find award space on your dates, and capture a good rate. Points don’t earn
interest, the program can devalue (the May 2026 chart raised the ceiling on most categories),
and a balance you never burn is worth nothing. The gap between “paper value” and “value you’ll
actually capture” is exactly why a cash-out market exists.

What if you can’t use them? Sell your Hyatt points for cash

Hyatt points are fantastic if you stay at Hyatt. But for a lot of people, the smarter move is to
sell the points for cash — especially if you’re in one of these
situations:

Cash For My Miles has bought points and miles since 2004 and holds a
4.8 rating on Trustpilot. Here’s how it works:

Frequently asked questions

Do World of Hyatt points expire?

Yes. Hyatt points expire if your account goes 24 consecutive months without any qualifying
activity. Earning, redeeming, or sharing points resets the clock — but a large balance
you never touch carries real risk over time. If you don’t plan to stay at Hyatt, cashing out
removes that risk entirely.

How much are World of Hyatt points worth?

Independent 2026 valuations generally put Hyatt points between about 1.7 and 2.3 cents each
— among the highest of any hotel program. The Points Guy values them at 1.55 cents,
Frequent Miler at about 1.7 cents (2.2 cents for top redemptions), and NerdWallet has valued
them near 2.3 cents. Luxury and peak-season redemptions can be worth even more — but
only if you actually book the stay.

Can I sell my World of Hyatt points for cash?

Yes. Cash For My Miles buys World of Hyatt points for cash — you get a same-day quote,
secure verification, payment typically within 1–3 days, no fees, and you’re paid before
we redeem. See how selling your
Hyatt points works
or message us on WhatsApp for a quote.

Is it safe and legal to sell my Hyatt points?

Cash For My Miles has bought points and miles since 2004 and holds a 4.8 Trustpilot rating.
The process is handled securely, you’re paid before redemption, and there are no fees taken
from your payout. Get a no-obligation quote first and decide from there.

How fast do I get paid?

Most sellers are paid within 1 to 3 days after a quick verification step — and the
payment goes out before we redeem the points. Start with a same-day quote to see your offer.

Can I transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt points to Hyatt?

Yes. With an eligible Chase Sapphire or Ink card you can transfer Ultimate Rewards points to
World of Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio, and Bilt Rewards also transfer 1:1. Hyatt is the only major
hotel program Chase transfers to, which is a big reason its points are so sought after.
